Not Being Present With Could, Should, Would

Traveling in a crowd

Why do we use “could, should, would” as often as we do? I know that I do now more often with my kids as a directive rather than a request like I should be asking them. The words themselves imply that where we are right now is not where we (or someone else) doing the right thing. As future-oriented words they keep us from being present in the moment. Think about how often you use these words.

Do you use them more at work or at home?

Who are you speaking with when you use them?

Is a request even necessary?

My request of you: Track the number of times you utilize these words to gain insights on yourself.
